Tollywood actor Sayantika Banerjee joins TMC ahead of polls

Tollywood actress Sayantika Banerjee joined the Trinamool Congress ahead of assembly polls in West Bengal. She was welcomed into the party by Subrata Mukherjee, Partha Chatterjee and Bratya Basu.
 

After joining TMC, Sayantika said, “This is not a new decision and I was always with Didi.” Asked if she will also contest the 2021 Bengal elections, Sayantika said, “It will depend on Didi. I am here to strengthen her hand.”
 

“Now is the right time for the people of Bengal to express their will," she added. Sayantika appealed to everyone to come forward and stand by Mamata Banerjee’s side. Bengal wants its own daughter.
 

Recently, many Bengali film and television stars have joined both TMC and BJP in West Bengal ahead of the polls.
 

On asked about her friends who joined the BJP, Sayantika said, “I would wish them luck. But I was with Didi and will always be.”

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said that West Bengal will go to polls in 8 phases on March 27, April 1, April 6, April 10, April 17, April 22, April 26 and April 29, making it the longest ever polls in the state.
