BJP workers arrested in Bengal for distributing ‘Jai Shree Ram’ masks

Police arrested RSS and BJP workers for distributing masks with the words 'Joy Shri Ram'. The incident took place on Wednesday night at Sheoraphuli in Hooghly. Police at Sheoraphuli outpost have arrested 19 people in the incident.
 

According to police sources, no gathering permission was taken for this program. However, many are questioning the 'over-activity' of the police centering on mask distribution.
 

BJP leaders and activists protested in front of the outpost. The incident took place on Sunday (February 7). The BJP and the RSS organized an eye test camp at Chapdani on the same day.
 

Masks with the words 'Jay Shri Ram' were distributed there. Allegedly, the organizers have to face the threat of the TMC activists and supporters. What is the problem if the mask written 'Joy Shri Ram' is distributed?  BJP and RSS workers-supporters raised counter questions.

After the incident, the RSS workers made a counter program. 50,000 masks will be distributed in different areas of Sheoraphuli throughout the week.
 

The mask distribution program was held first in front of Sheoraphuli Railway Park and later in front of Sheoraphuli Vivekananda School. BJP workers and supporters were also present.
 

RSS and BJP activists started distributing masks on GT Road on Wednesday evening. They were handing out masks to passers-by as well as to every individual house. After a while, the police of Sheoraphuli outpost appeared there.
 

According to sources, RSS and BJP workers-supporters first complained to the police when they were asked to stop the distribution of masks on the streets. Later, police personnel came to the spot with the prison van. 19 people were detained and taken to the outpost.

Upon receiving the news, a group of BJP workers and supporters gathered in front of Sheoraphuli outpost. They started protesting. Meanwhile, the Bengal BJP has uploaded a video of the incident on its Twitter page. It reads, “There is a complete dictatorship in West Bengal. BJP worker arrested by Serampore, Hooghly police. His ‘grave crime’ was that he dared to wear & distribute “Jai Shri Ram” masks. This is Pishi’s Bengal where Democracy has died a thousand deaths!”
