A cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal and a north-south trough are driving this change. The active southwest monsoon will bring light to moderate showers in some spots and heavy thunderstorms in others. Gusty winds will sweep through at 30 to 40 kmph, peaking at 50 kmph in certain areas.

Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema weather update

The cyclonic circulation is showing a clear impact across Andhra Pradesh. The Amaravati weather centre expects moderate to heavy rains with lightning strikes in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, the Godavari districts, Krishna, and Guntur. Coastal Andhra and Yanam will also see similar weather.

Rayalaseema districts like Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, YSR Kadapa, and Tirupati will stay cloudy with light to moderate showers. Officials have warned fishermen not to venture into the sea as winds will blow at 45 to 55 kmph along the coast.

The weather department expects thunderstorms and gusty winds in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, and Sangareddy.

Officials have issued a yellow alert for all these districts. The undivided Karimnagar region might also see scattered drizzles.
