Neena Gupta has showed the world how to raise a child as a single mother, she is an inspiration for many. The actress has always been open about her relationship and having her daughter Masaba Gupta out of wedlock.

From having an affair with actor Alok Nath to her wedding being called off with Shaarangdev, son of Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj, her love life has been a rollar-coster ride.
After a few heart breaks she met west Indies cricket team captian,Vivian Richards. He was a married man but Neena fell madly in love with him and gave birth to their daughter Masaba Gupta.
Neena raised her daughter, an ace designer Masaba Gupta all by herself, it was not easy and Neena had spoken several times about her struggles of parenting, lack of work and much more openly.
According to an interview she gave to Mumbai Mirror, she had talked about her regret of having a child out of wedlock.
She was quoted saying, “I would not have a child outside marriage. Every child needs both parents. I was always honest with Masaba, so it did not affect our relationship, but I know she suffered.
In a conversation with film critic Rajeev Masand, Neena Gupta opened about her relationship with Masaba and the feeling of depriving her of fatherly love and keeping Richards out of the parenting process.
The actress believed that it was selfish on her part to do that, a child needs both parents. She was quoted as saying, "Very much. All the time. I feel it was a very selfish act on my part. Some of my friends told me it won’t be fair on part of the child, but kaun sunnta hai uss waqat, blind hotey hain (who listens at that age, people are blind). I also feel sad because she was lonely. I wish I had another child but circumstances weren’t like that)."
