The current Team India, which is preparing in England for the upcoming five-Test series for the Pataudi Trophy, has suffered some setbacks after three players have been ruled out due to injuries. Shubman Gill (shin splints), Washington Sundar (finger injury) and Avesh Khan (dislocated thumb) are the ones to have suffered the unfortunate fate.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to sen id three replacements, as Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw and Jayant Yadav are scheduled to fly into England soon. Although the BCCI is yet to announce the same officially, a senior official confirmed the same.

37

"Yes, Prithvi, Surya and Jayant will be flying to England. But, Whether they will fly in the middle of the T20 Internationals or post that is being worked out. But yes, these three are our replacement players for the Test series in England. They might leave after the three T20 Internationals, but we will get a confirmation in another three days," the official told PTI.

Shaw is currently involved in the limited-overs contests in Sri Lanka. He has fared well, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer in the just-concluded One-Day International series. At the same time, he looks forward to continuing with the same momentum in the Twenty20 Internationals.

Consequently, Shaw's performance has impressed the selectors and the management, and the word is that he might get the nod ahead of Mayank Agarwal, whose form is currently unstable. Nonetheless, it would be interesting to see if Shaw and Suryakumar can make it to the first Test side, considering the quarantine regulations in England.

In the meantime, Jayant Yadav has been doing great of late as an all-rounder, especially with his batting. However, he would only get the nod provided either of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja is injured.

Furthermore, the management also has a concern regarding Ajinkya Rahane's hamstring strain. The official added that while Surykumar could come in handy as his replacement, wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul is likely to get the nod ahead of him.'
