There seems to be no stopping to former champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, as it defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six wickets in Match 34 at the Sharjah Cricket Ground on Friday. RCB does a first since 2013
- RCB's opening pair of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal contributed to a 111-run stand for the opening wicket. Meanwhile, it was the first time since 2013 that the RCB openers put on a 50-plus stand.
- Also, it was RCB's highest stand against CSK, bettering Kohli and Chris Gayle's 109, besides being its third 100-plus stand against the side in the tournament.

Kohli does a best
Kohli managed to play a simple knock of 53. Meanwhile, he also scored the most runs in his IPL career against the side (950-plus) in the process.

CSK registers its best for the season
CSK managed a powerplay score of 59/0. It was its best PP score of IPL 2021, bettering 54/0 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Winning the toss, CSK opted to field, as RCB managed a below-par total of 156/6, courtesy of Kohli (53) and Padikkal's (70) splendid twin innings, while pacer Dwayne Bravo claimed a three-for. In reply, CSK chased it down with ease, following a consolidated effort from the batsmen and winning by six wickets.
