Nevertheless, RCB seems determined to change its fortunes in IPL 2021, as it is off to a flier, having won five of the six games it has played so far. Its latest win came on Tuesday night when it tamed Delhi Capitals by a run.

Consequently, skipper Virat Kohli hailed the side by praising its bowling, which is equally competent as its batting. "For the most part, I think we were top in this game with our bowlers. We felt 160-165 was par. It was a bit two-paced," he said during the post-match presentation.

"There wasn't any dew tonight, thanks to that little sandstorm in the middle, and we ended up bowling with a dry ball. If you look at our bowling line-up, Maxi's still not bowling; he's the 7th option. As a captain, I can bowl guys at different stages, take the load off one another. We've always had batting, but now, bowling as well," he added.

Meanwhile, DC skipper Rishabh Pant was disappointed with the narrow loss, as both, his and Shimron Hetmyer's half-century went in vain. "Obviously feeling disappointed, especially when you are on the losing side. They got 10-15 runs extra on this wicket. Hetty played a brilliant innings; because of him, we got close to the target," he admitted.

Winning the toss and electing to bowl, RCB produced a great shoe with the bat, thanks to de Villiers's unbeaten 75 and some late fireworks in the innings. In reply, RCB bowled tight and let the required rate increase. Although Pant and Hetmyer contributed to an unbeaten 78-run stand, in the end, one run was just too naive to come.
