IPL 2020: Match 4, Talking points as RR beat CSK by 16 runs
The electrifying match of 33 sixes at Sharjah Stadium rode fans in for a ride. The flat pitch aided batsmen, who went after some powerful hitting.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered a win against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and defeated CSK by 16 runs. The power-packed match at the Sharjah Stadium, on Tuesday, witnessed more number of sixes than the total match fours.
Let’s just throw some light on the worthy points of the match:
Smith-Samson Stand
After RR opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal fell cheaply, Steve Smith and Sanju Samson hardly gave the CSK bowlers any reason to celebrate. The duo took to powerful smashing and made a whooping partnership of 121-run partnership.
Samson Sizzles
Samson turned tables around, as he reigned nine sixes. The powerful hitter had a strike-rate of more than 230, wherein he had smashed 74 runs from 32 balls.
Smith Strikes
Smith took to some powerful hitting after Samson was dismissed. His 69-run contribution in the middle let RR put a formidable total on the board.
Archer’s Armour
Four massive sixes in the last over, Archer made optimum use of Ngidi’s no-ball free hits. It was the last over intense hitting, due to which RR could register their win.
Consistent Curran
Sam Curran proved his worth yet again with the bat and the ball. He scalped three major wickets and was the most economical bowler for CSK. As far as his batting is concerned, the former had a strike-rate of nearly 290.
Faf flies again
Faf du Plessis, CSK’s senior player, contributed 72 off just 37 balls. He struck seven7 massive sixes.
Gaikwad flukes
The debutant, who played as a replacement to Rayudu’s injury, failed to impress the CSK staff. The former departed without scoring anything.
Dhoni drives
Like Archer, Dhoni, in his all-natural style, struck incessant sixes in the twentieth over. Though this helped CSK reach their 200 mark, it was too late to invite victory into their stride.
Rahul Tewatia scalps
RR leggie proved deceptive and struck CSK’s three major wickets.
