IPL 2020: From Golden Boys to Yellow Army, ranking the top jerseys of all-time
The Indian Premier League (IPL) began in 2008, with a lot of glamour quotient. One of the glamorous aspects was the jerseys, as most of the sides presented their best chemise to date. From Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), all have had it.
The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kick off this Saturday. Having come a long way, the tournament shows no signs of slowing down.
Meanwhile, the teams, that have participated over the years, have donned a specific jersey, which gives them their prime recognition. Some of these jerseys have become so popular that the franchises have decided against fiddling with it.
In the meantime, another glamorous season is ready to rock and roll in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As a result, let us have a look at the top team jerseys that have mesmerized fans over the years and are among the best of all-time.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK): Be it any sport, the yellow brigade never fails to impress. CSK certainly had that in mind when they chose the colour of their jersey. Furthermore, having legendary skipper MS Dhoni in their side, they were pretty confident of prolonged success. Curiously, the side has turned out to be the Australia/Brazil of IPL. Did you get what we meant? A simple and classic jersey, but an all-time great.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP): The opening edition of the IPL saw KXIP donning a jersey, with a combination of silver and red. Led by Yuvraj Singh and having the likes of Brett Lee and Shaun Marsh in their side, the jersey gained immense popularity and is continued to be worn by many supporters to date. Although the side is yet to win the title, their jersey certainly has won it.
Delhi Capitals (DC): Delhi underwent a change in their attire since 2019, besides changing their name and logo. Having adapted to a vibrant blue, rather than red and black, the change seems to have done wonders, as the side managed to qualify for the playoffs after a long time. Furthermore, the jersey gained positve reviews from fans, as it was one of the most sold jersies last season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): The inaugural edition also saw RCB coming up with a lively design and colour for their jersey. With mostly red, followed by some yellow art, the jersey gained immense applause. Furthermore, having one of the star-studded sides back then, the side attracted a huge number of fans, who donned it with pride.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): It is once again from the inaugural season, as KKR were already in the headlines for having owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Also, being led by one of the most successful Indian captains back then, Sourav Ganguly, fans fell in love with the team. What was even fascinating was their jersey, that was mostly black. However, the borders of the jersey that was highlighted by the golden colour, made it the most energetic jersey of all. While fans continue to don it to date, the side doesn't, owing to their misfortunes in the opening three seasons, as they have had success with their ongoing purple patch.
