India vs England 2020-21, 2nd Test: Ravichandran Ashwin headlines the records on Day 3

India is giving it back to England in the four-Test series for the Anthony de Mello Trophy. Having lost the opening Test in Chennai, the host looks favourite to win the second Test at the same venue. Meanwhile, Day 3 saw some records, mostly dominated by Ravi Ashwin.

India is ideally in the driver's seat on Day 3 of the second Test against England for the Anthony de Mello Trophy, at the MA Chidambaram (Chepauk) Stadium in Chennai, on Monday. The day was headlined by all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, who scored a brilliant century to put India on top. As a result, certain records were scripted, while we take a look at them.

Ashwin produces special ones
- Ashwin played an outstanding knock of 106. As a result, he is joint third on the list to have scored a 50 and claimed five-for in the same Test on most occasions, having done so on six occasions, along with Richard Hadlee. The record for the same lies with Ian Botham (11) and Shakib Al Hasan (9).
- He is also the second most to score a ton and claim a fifer in the same Test, having done so on three occasions, while the record for the same is with Botham (5).
- He is only the second player from Tamil Nadu to do so, after Kris Srikkanth (123 vs Pakistan in 1986-87).
- He is also the first Indian to do the same at home ground.
- It is also his first Test century against a different side, other than Windies.

Cheteshwar Pujara scripts an unwanted
Pujara was dismissed for just seven off a run out in a dramatic fashion. Nonetheless, since his Test debut, he is the batsman to have been dismissed on most occasions via this medium (9).

India equals an outcast feat
Three of the Indian batsmen were stumped today. As a result, India has levelled the most stumping in a Test. It was the third occasion of the same, having previously happened in 1952 (vs England) and 2017 (vs Sri Lanka).

Moeen Ali scripts a special one
Moeen was in top form, as he dismissed four Indians in the second innings, including vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. Consequently, he is now the second most successful bowler against Rahane in the format, having dismissed him on seven occasions, while the bowler to have done so mostly is Nathan Lyon (10).

Match summary
Batting first, India has posted 329, courtesy Rohit Sharma's 161, while England was bundled out for 134, owing to Ashwin's fifer. In the second, India extended the lead to 481, thanks to Ashwin's 109. England has already lost three in the second innings for just above 50.
