Total donations by India's top philanthropists increased by 175% to $12,050 crore in 2020

Number of individuals who have donated more than Rs 10 crore increases from 37 to 78 this year

With a donation of Rs 27 crore, Amit Chandra and Archana Chandra of A.T.E. Chandra Foundation are the first and only professional managers to ever enter the Edelgive Hurun India Philanthropy List

Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumara Mangalam Birla and Vedanta Group's Anil Agarwal are now in the top 5 list. Azim Premji & family, the founder-chairman of Wipro topped the 2020 list, while Shiv Nadar, founder-chairman of HCL technologies is ranked second; followed by Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries at the third spot. 
 

At the age of 37, Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal is the youngest in the list. Hurun India MD and Chief Researcher Anas Rahman Junaid said, "Binny Bansal is the first philanthropist under the age of 40 to enter the philanthropy list. This is possibly one of the best news from the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2020. I hope this will inspire more young wealth creators to not only donate but also to speak more about their donations."

With 36 individuals, Mumbai is home to most of the philanthropists in Edelgive Hurun India philanthropy list 2020, followed by New Delhi (20) and Bengaluru (10)

Education the most favoured cause with 90 philanthropists cumulatively donating Rs 9,324 crore

With 84 donors, healthcare registered a 111% increase in cumulative donation, followed by disaster relief & management, which had 41 donors.

With a donation of Rs 47 crore, Rohini Nilekani is the most generous woman philanthropist in the list. Rohini is founder-chairperson of Arghyam, a foundation which funds initiatives for sustainable water and sanitation all across India
