Singer Yash Wadali booked for molestation here are the details

A 39-year-old woman has lodged a molestation case against singer Yash Wadali at Bangurnagar police station in suburban Goregaon, a senior official said.

Yash Wadali, the youngest in the family of popular Sufi singers -- Wadali brothers, calls molestation case false and frivolous. Yash, the youngest in the family of popular Sufi singers Wadali brothers, allegedly molested a woman at a friend's birthday party. The singer has now moved the Dindoshi sessions court for an anticipatory bail. The alleged incident took place at around 5 pm at the residence of the complainant's friend in Goregaon on August 3.

"The complainant was at her friend's residence, where a quarrel broke out between Yash and her over the issue of singing a song. Later, Wadali held her collar with an intent to outrage her modesty and also abused the woman," senior police inspector Santosh Bhandare said.

According to the woman, she was invited to a club for a birthday party by friend Nirmal Kumar Mishra. The party got over at 1:30 a.m, but she along with Nirmal and Yash continued their celebration at a friend's house till 4 a.m. The woman claimed that she asked Yash to sing songs which annoyed him and he started shouting at her. Yash, in fact, abused her and pulled her shirt's collar.

Based on the complaint filed by the woman, police have registered a case against the singer under sections 354 (punishment for sexual harassment) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the IPC, he said.

"It is just not a blatant lie but a planned conspiracy to falsely implicate Yash by the complainant for the reasons known to her," said Wadali's lawyer Falguni Brahmabhatt told India Today.

Yash's side of the whole incident has also been revealed. According to him, the lady was totally drunk and was forcing him to sing. He complained that the woman "was disturbing and compelling him to sing a song. She was not in a position even to stand properly. After being harassed by her he (Yash Wadali) left for home," Wadali's lawyer Falguni said.

No arrest has been made so far and further investigation is on, the officer said.
