'Jamai 2.0 will be an emotional treat for the audience', Director Aarambh Singh

FollowMumbai: Aarambh Singh, a well-known director who is known for unearthing thriller web series is here with the most awaited second season of Jamai 2.0. The director in an exclusive chat with Asianet News shared some insights about the upcoming season, characters, his take on OTT guidelines, and more.
Excerpts from the interview:
Q:Tell us about the upcoming season of Jamai 2.0. What should the audience look forward to for this season?
A: Jamai Raja was a super-hit show on television. Now we are here on the OTT platform with the new storyline. Now the show is made from a TV to web cross over. The first season had a lot of action but for the second season, it will be a different experience. The second season is penned down to more of an emotional level of both the characters. We had to follow the revenge part of the first season to the second. We wanted to bring in love in the characters of Roshni and Sidharth played by Nia Sharma and Ravi Dubey. The second season is more on an emotional quotient and the characters are shown in a vulnerable state. It will be a very relatable season, with a lesson at the end that will be treat apart from the entertainment.
Q: The second season of any show or series is surrounded by expectations, how do you cater to this?
A: When I joined as the director for the second season, I did my research thoroughly. I watched the first season, observed their work, and did a proper character study. I ensure that the character elements are properly compiled. The character at no point of the time should contradict with what the audience wants to see and it was also taken care of.
Q: How was it working with Nia Sharma and Ravi Dubey?
A: It was outstanding, to be honest. Both of them are extremely hardworking. Though they have known the character the most they don't take any scene for granted. They work on the scene like a true artist. Ravi keeps on discussing the scene and we used to have good chat and bring a perspective into it. Nia on other hand is very spontaneous actor. She will do the scene in a way that will surprise me to another level.

Q: Tell us more about Bekaboo-2?
A: I am fortunate enough to try my hands at doing such a great web series that is a psycho-thriller.  I am known for catering 'thriller' genre as I started my career with Damaged. So Bekaboo-2 is again the continuation from the previous season. The first season ended with the character of the writer going to jail, so the first season's story picks from there. It has multiple layers. The audience will love it and get engrossed in it.
Q: What's your take on the freshly launched guidelines by Government to regulate OTT platforms?
A: Any kind of control is good as long as it is done with a certain amount of sensibility and moderation. I agree that we need to have a certain amount of control. A certain amount of norms is required asÂ
there is some shabby content that is not good for the youth but it should not compromise with the freedom of expression in terms of art.
