Prabhu Deva was born on 3 April 1973 in Mysore, Karnataka but has grown up in Alwarpet, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father is Mugur Sundar (also known as Sundaram Master), who is also a choreographer. His two brothers Raju Sundaram and Nagendra Prasad are also established South Indian choreographers.
