Kota: To teach a lesson to a local goon who was harassing a 22-year-old woman, the woman’s family and villagers caught hold of the 30-year-old-man and beat him with sticks, iron rods and stones until he died.

The incident was reported on Monday (July 20) at Sumer village in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district and the attack is said to be an act of vengeance for teasing and harassing the woman.

As per reports, the man Tokiya alias Raju Bagri was a criminal with several cases in the past. He harassed the married woman following which a complaint was registered against him under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The family, thinking of instant justice, rounded him off and beat him and left the place. The family members of Raju took him to hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Khanpur Police arrived and based on the inputs and a complaint by the deceased person’s family members, eight persons, identified as Ramlakhan, Nathulal, Siyaram, Dharmraj, Banwari, Prem, Lekhraj and the woman, were arrested. Police are on the lookout for another accused Dwaraka who is on the run.

Meanwhile, police handed over the body to the family members after the postmortem.
