Raipur: In an inhuman incident reported from Chhattisgarh, a seven-year-old boy was thrashed and tied to a tree. It is alleged that the minor stole biscuits and Rs 200 from a shop’s cash box.

The incident happened in Kotba in Jashpur district, about 350 km northeast of Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur. And the shop owner who beat up the boy, is now arrested. He was identified as Rameshwar Dadsena.

As per reports, the shopkeeper thrashed the boy first as he denied stealing money. The video showing the child tied to a tree has gone viral in the region.

The boy’s parents, who got to know about the incident, assured that they would return the alleged stolen money only after that the boy was set free.

Balaji Rao Somawar, Jashpur district superintendent of police, was quoted as saying, "The incident occurred at remote Tumla. The shopkeeper argued that he caught the child who fled after stealing some item and the money. His parents claimed that their innocent child was beaten and tied to a tree. We have registered the case and are inquiring into the incident."
