IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians ropes in Roosh Kalaria as Mohsin Khan replacement

The IPL 2021 resumes from Sunday in the UAE. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians would be without Mohsin Khan, who would be out due to an injury, while pacer Roosh Kalaria would replace him.

Defending champion Mumbai Indians is all prepared to go ahead with the resumption of the 2021 Indian Premier League in the United Arab Emirates. Just a day ahead of it, the franchise has roped in a player. Pacer Roosh Kalaria would join the squad for the UAE leg. He would be replacing injured all-rounder Mohsin Khan.

“Mumbai Indians have added fast bowling all-rounder Roosh Kalaria as an injury replacement for Mohsin Khan for the UAE leg of IPL 2021. The 228-year-old Kalaria had travelled to Abu Dhabi with the Mumbai Indians squad as a support player and now has earned his first IPL contract,” said MI in a statement.

“Kalaria was part of the India U-19 team in the 2012 ICC U-19 cricket World Cup. Kalaria has been a key player for Gujarat in the domestic cricket over the years since his debut in 2012. Kalaria was inducted in the squad today during the team’s training session,” it added.

It would be Kalaria’s maiden stint in the IPL. As for his Twenty20 figures, the Gujarat-based player has claimed 37 wickets from 31 matches at an economy of 6.53. He has also been highly influential in the List-A circuit, bagging 66 from 46 at 4.41.

MI is set to take on former champion Chennai Super Kings in Match 30 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. MI is placed fourth and needs three to four wins to seal its playoffs berth, while CSK is at the second spot and is just two to three wins away from the playoffs, having failed to do so last season in the gulf.
