IPL 2020: Sunil Gavaskar's comments on Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma draws flak of fans
Virat Kohli fared poorly last night for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was dismissed for just a run, while RCB succumbed to a 97-run defeat at the hands of Kings XI Punjab. Kohli has been married to Anushka Sharma since 2017, while both have been trolled even before.
Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper, Virat Kohli, never seems to be getting any short of being trolled for his personal life. The latest comment regarding Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma did not come from the fans, but legendary former Indian skipper, Sunil Gavaskar.
Gavaskar, who is currently commentating for Star Sports in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), was in the centre of controversy, on Thursday. While it was not a general comment made to any media outlet, but it happened to be on air.
After Kohli was dismissed for just a mere single in RCB's game against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) last night, Gavaskar commented by saying, “Inhone lockdown me to bas Anushka ki gendon ki practice ki hai (He has only practised in Anushka's deliveries during the lockdown).”
While it seemed to be a sarcastic comment by Gavaskar, fans referred to it as a statement which is of double standards. Naturally, some fans were left fuming at Gavaskar's comments and criticised him for passing such unconvincing comments against the Indian skipper, and that too on air, while some even urged the broadcaster to get him removed from the commentary panel.

Here are some of the tweets on how fans reacted to this:
This is not the first time Kohli and Anushka have been criticised for the former underperforming on the cricket pitch. Prior to their marriage, Anushka was criticised and being referred to as a distraction for Kohli, every time the latter failed to score. It also happened during the 2015 ICC World Cup, when Kohli had been dismissed for cheap in the semis against Australia, which Anuskha was spectating from the stands.
However, following their marriage, these claims have dried out. Kohli married Anushka in 2017, while they had started dating each other since 2013. Both are currently expecting their first child in December.
Meanwhile, RCB succumbed to one of their heaviest defeats, as they were mauled by KXIP, by 97 runs, in Dubai, last night. The match was highlighted by the flawless innings of KXIP skipper KL Rahul, who scored an unbeaten 132 off just 69 deliveries, as the latter's side posted a mammoth 206/3. In reply, RCB were bundled out for mere 109.
