Indian seamer Mohammed Shami continues to severely impact Team India across formats with his lethal swing bowling. Having played under skippers like MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, he has evolved dramatically over the years.

Meanwhile, besides Dhoni and Kohli, Shami also seems to be gelling under limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma. While Rohit is a successful skipper in the Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians, he is also doing a terrific job for Team India, regularly backing his bowlers to get the job done.

"As a bowler, when I go to him for advice, he always gives positive answers. Rohit always pushes the bowlers to do what their mind tells them to, irrespective of how the batsman is playing or his strong points. I think that is very important for the confidence of a fast bowler," he told India TV.

"Rohit is a different character. He is a cool person, except when he comes to bat! Fast bowlers are very aggressive, both old and new. But the one player who could probably emulate their aggression is our own captain! Sometimes, when a picture of Virat's celebration of a wicket goes viral on social media, I funnily ask him, 'Was it my wicket or yours?'" he added.

Nonetheless, Shami stated that the amount of intensity shown by Kohli upon the fall of every wicket boosts the side's morale, especially the bowlers. "But, it is important to have fun on the field. Virat shows aggression, obviously, but as a unit, he has led the team brilliantly so far. In addition, he is a very aggressive batsman too," he concluded.

Shami would be travelling to England to feature in the ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand next month. Although he struggled for Punjab Kings in the 2021 Indian Premier League, he has been on another level in the longest format and would certain to make an impact against NZ and the following five Tests against England.
