West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim administered the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin on Wednesday (December 30).

Addressing a gathering via video conferencing while laying the foundation stone for a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Gujarat's Rajkot, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that preparation is on full swing to mobilise and distribute India-manufactured vaccine to everyone.

 A nurse who works at two different local hospitals, Matthew W., said in a Facebook post on December 18 that he had received the Pfizer vaccine, telling the ABC News affiliate that his arm was sore for a day but that he had suffered no other side-effects.

 "Govt of India extends suspension of scheduled commercial international flights till 31 Jan, 2021," said the civil aviation regulator.

 The Uddhav Thackeray government appealed that children below the age of 10 and elderly citizens older than 60 years of age must avoid venturing out of the home on New Year's Eve.

The UK government accepted the recommendation from the Medicines and Healthcare products regulatory agency to authorise Oxford University/AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine for use.

 India reported 20,550 new Covid-19 cases, 26,572 recoveries, and 286 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per Union health ministry.
