At least 25 patients have lost their lives in the last 24 hours in the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the national capital.

The hospital administration, however, denied reports that claimed that the patients died due to low-pressure oxygen supply.

Terming the reports about the patients dying due to lack of oxygen as fake news, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital chairman told media persons that when oxygen pressure lowered in ICU beds, the staff gave oxygen to the patients manually.

"We did not let anyone die without oxygen. Oxygen supplier Inox has informed the hospital that it will supply 9000-10,000 cubic meters of oxygen daily," he said

Another senior hospital official was quoted by media reports as saying that the hospital's oxygen stocks were inadequate.

For now, hospital authorities have reportedly resorted to manual ventilation in Intensive Care Units and the emergency department.

Max Healthcare stops hospital admissions

Max Healhcare initially put out a Tweet announcing the suspension of new patient admissions in all its hospitals in the Delhi-NCR region till oxygen supplies stabilize.

However, moments later, the Twitter post was deleted.

Earlier, Max hospitals in the city reported oxygen shortage and complained of delays in fresh supplies.

The hospitals received some emergency supplies of oxygen, but Max officials stated that they would last barely hours considering that they have over 700 patients admitted.
