Veterans and dependents of the armed forces will be getting the first jab of the Covid vaccine from next week.

"Approval of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for vaccination of veterans and dependents of Armed Forces personnel in Service hospitals has been received," the Indian Army said on Saturday.

The process is likely to begin next week after the completion of registration of Armed Forces medical facilities on Co-WIN Platform.

The digital platform called 'Co-WIN' is being used for Covid-19 vaccination delivery.

"Guidelines for the same will be issued in a few days," it added.

The Indian Army doctors, paramedics and medical staffs were vaccinated against the disease in January after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a nationwide vaccination drive.

The armed forces personnel were in the first lot to receive the first doses of Made in India vaccine.
