Gautam Adani's Adani Data Networks receives licence for full fledged telecom services

The Adani Group participated in the recently held 5G spectrum auction and now reports suggest that the company has been granted licence to offer full-fledged telecom services in India.

Adani Data Network has been granted unified licence for access services, which enables it to provide all telecom services in the country, according to two official sources. After purchasing spectrum in the most recent 5G spectrum auction, Adani Group entered the telecom industry. Adani Data Networks has received UL (AS), according to a reliable source. According to a different source, the permission was issued on Monday.

In the most recent 5G spectrum auction, Adani Data Networks Ltd (ADNL), a division of Adani Enterprises Ltd, won the right to utilise 400MHz of spectrum in the 26GHz millimetre wave band for Rs 212 crore over a 20-year period.

The Adani Group has previously stated that it intended to use the airwaves for both its data centres and the mega app it is developing to help industries ranging from gas retail to ports and energy delivery to airports. 

According to a statement from the company, "The newly-acquired 5G spectrum is intended to help develop a single digital platform that would expedite the pace and scope of the Adani group's digitalisation of its core infrastructure, primary industrial and B2C business portfolio."

According to a different source, the Department of Telecommunications has granted the Adani Data Networks unified licence only in six circles, including Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. Now, the company is eligible to carry out long-distance calls on its network and also offer internet services.It should be noted that the company hasn't revealed any details on introducing a telecom network to take of Jio and Airtel.
