It will help if you do not purchase sharp objects such as scissors, pins, knives and other sharp things. It is believed to bring ill luck to the family when sharp items are purchased during this festival. You should not purchase anything in the colour black colour as the colour is generally associated with slow progress in life. While shopping for Dhanteras, you must avoid glass, ceramics, plastics and aluminium products during this period.
