A white van mowed down people near a mosque in north London on Monday morning. The London metropolitan police declared it as a ‘major incident’ and said there are a number of casualties.

So far, one person has been arrested. The Independent reported that an angry crowd surrounded a white man believed to be the driver. It’s not clear if Muslims were targeted. However, The Muslim Council tweeted a number of worshippers were injured after they were leaving the Finsbury Park mosque in north London.

According to eyewitnesses, at least 10 people were injured in the attack. They added that the police gave emergency treatment to the victims.

Police officers rushed to the scene on Seven Sisters Road at 12.20 am Monday morning after they received a call about the incident. Britain’s terror alert has been raised to severe, and part of the traffic on Seven Sisters Road has been shut down by the police.

This attack comes a few weeks after the country faced two terrorist attacks. Earlier, a van ran over pedestrians on London Bridge and three attackers stabbed people in the city's bustling Borough Market area. Prior to this, at least 20 people were killed when a bomb exploded at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester.
