Even as the memory of the dastardly attack on Afghans is still fresh, merely two days after twin blasts rocked Kabul, another massive explosion hit the Afghanistan capital on Sunday, Arab News reported.

According to reports, the explosion took place near the Kabul Airport.

A child has been killed as a rocket hit a house northwest of the airport, the Afghan police chief.

No group has so far claimed Sunday's rocket attack near Kabul airport.

This comes as US military cargo planes continue to evacuate people from the airport on Sunday, as the Tuesday deadline earlier set by President Joe Biden to withdraw all troops from America’s longest war inches closer.

The Taliban on Saturday sealed off Kabul airport to prevent large crowds from gathering and leaving the war-torn country as final NATO evacuation flights left Afghanistan.

Biden warned on Saturday that commanders had told him that another attack was “highly likely in the next 24-36 hours,” and the US Embassy issued a new warning early Sunday for all Americans to avoid the airport area entirely.

"The situation on the ground continues to be extremely dangerous, and the threat of terrorist attacks on the airport remains high. Our commanders informed me that an attack is highly likely in the next 24-36 hours," Biden said in a statement.

"I directed them to take every possible measure to prioritize force protection, and ensured that they have all the authorities, resources and plans to protect our men and women on the ground," Biden said.

Moreover, the US Embassy in Kabul had also issued a security alert for the same.
