Uprooting the Taliban is the guiding principle of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan and following it, around 13 members of the Taliban were killed and one of their tanks was destroyed in an ambush by National resistance in the Chikrinow district of Panjshir province.

Panjshir has been the only province to hold out against the Taliban since Kabul fell to the insurgents on August 15.

The official Twitter account of the rebel group tweeted: "13 members of the Taliban were killed in an ambush by National resistance in the #Chikrinow district of #Panjshir province, and one of their tanks was destroyed."

This latest ambush comes just 24 hours after eight Taliban fighters were killed after clashing with the opposition militia in the province.

Taliban’s commission for guidance and encouragement chief Mullah Amir Khan Motaqi on Wednesday informed that negotiations with tribal leaders in Panjshir had failed, local news outlet Khaama Press reported.

The group is led by vice president Amrullah Saleh and Afghan politician and military leader Ahmad Massoud, the 32-year-old son of the celebrated mujahedeen commander Ahmad Shah Massoud.

Two members of the NRF forces were also wounded in the ambush.

Meanwhile, the Taliban informed that both sides have suffered casualties in the fighting that has been going on for the past three days.

“Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate were attacked from some circles in Panjshir who bluff and say they will resist. The Mujahideen reacted to the attack and as a result the other side has suffered heavy casualties,” Anaamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban’s cultural commission, said according to Tolo News.
