In this regard the Sabha held a meeting with Veerashaiva leaders in Hunsur and directed the Sabha authorities to support Vishwanath against Congress candidate Manjunath.

BJP leader V Srinivas Prasad said that Congress had lost Assembly elections and Lok Sabha elections under SIddaramaiah's leadership in Karnataka. Thus, defeat in by-election will be the third defeat just like whitewash in terms of cricket.
 

Shobha Karandlaje, the Udupi-Chikkamagalur BJP MP blamed former CM Siddaramaiah for the turmoil that the state is going through in relation to various issues. 

The last day to file nominations for the Karnataka bypolls is today (Nov 18), candidates from all parties are busy racing against time. This includes disqualified MLAs Ramesh Jarkiholi, and former MLA A H Vishwanath, among several others. Karnataka will go to polls on December 5 for the seats that were vacated when the rebel Congress-JD(S) MLAs were disqualified.

After H Vishwanath, Narayan Gowda and K Gopalaiah bid goodbye to the JD(S), it looks like GT Deve Gowda may follow suit and join the BJP. Interestingly, he has blamed HD Kumaraswamy's close aide Sa Ra Mahesh, who was apparently the reason for H Vishwanath’s exit from the party

As the 5 disqualified MLAs reached Bengaluru, JDS's former state president and one of the disqualified MLAs H Vishwanath released a video in which he is seen urging the people to forgive him from quitting the party.

JD(S) leader Nikhil Kumaraswamy met party president H Vishwanath and spoke about future course of action with regard to Mandya. Nikhil lost to independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh from the constituency. It looks like Nikhil, who did not involve directly in politics until he contested the Lok Sabha election, is continuing on the road to remain as a politician. He has been speaking to veteran leaders in the state.

JD(S) president H Vishwanath was in Hyderabad to attend Kuruba community conference, when he suffered a cardiac arrest. In earlier cases, HD Kumaraswamy when he was the party president had suffered a heart attack. In 2008, JD(S) president Mirajuddin Patel died of a cardiac arrest.

Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, JD(S), a regional party is the first one to hold a convention to hint that it is ready for general elections. JD(S) leader R Prakash said that the party leader HD Deve Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy addressed party workers in an effort to instil confidence in them to face the election. He also clarified that the JD(S) president H Vishwanath will not step down and will continue as party president.

Currently in hospital, Vishwanath, Karnataka president of JD(S), has been asked to take rest for a while. His participation in the campaign for Mandya Lok Sabha and Ramanagara Assembly by-elections scheduled for November 3, is not certain.
 

CM HD Kumaraswamy said the dissidence in Congress is more than JDS over portfolio allocation and says the problem will ease eventually.
