As the year 2017 kick-starts, we already have a few smartphones lined-up to be launched this month. We recently reported about the flagship smartphones expected to be launched this month, and here are the smartphones expected to be launched in January.

To begin with, the Xiaomi Redmi Note is slated for India launch on 4 January, if reports are to be believed. Successor to the popular Redmi Note 3, it has the potential to become a bestseller for Xiaomi. However, there is no official word from the company yet. The Note 4 was unveiled in China last year and the company is expected to launch two variants of the device in India. A 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage at approx Rs 9000 and a 3GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage will be slightly expensive at roughly Rs 12,000. Other specs of the smartphone include 2.1GHz 10-core Helio X20 processor, expandable storage up to 128GB, 13 MP and 5MP camera sand it runs MIUI 8.

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4 could be followed by Samsung launching the Galaxy A 2017 series on 5 January. The launch event will take place in Kuala Lumpur, and the company is expected to launch three devices - Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7. All three will come with IP68 rating and a fingerprint scanner.

In terms of specs, the Galaxy A7 2017 will feature a 5.7-inch Full HD AMOLED display, 7880 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The A5 will sport a smaller 5.2-inch Full HD display, Exynos 7880 processor, 2GB RAM, 16MP rear snapper and 32GB onboard storage. Finally, the A3 2017 will feature a smaller 4.7-inch HD AMOLED display, Exynos 7870 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage.

HTC is said to be hosting an event on 12 January to launch the HTC Ocean Note, a device that will feature a display between 5.5-inches and 5.7-inches. The device is likely to skip the 3.5mm headphone jack, and the audio output will be via Type-C that also doubles as a charging port. But the highlight of the device is said to be the camera that is expected to feature the highest ranking from DxOMark.

Later this month, on 23 January, Vivo is expected to launch the Vivo V5 Plus. The highlight of the device is said to be the dual selfie camera. Needless to say, it could be positioned as a selfie device. Some other specs are expected to be 5.5-inch HD display, 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 processor, 4GB RAM, 3000mAh battery, 32GB onboard storage and expandable storage up to 128GB.
