Over the weekend, users from the Middle East and other parts of the world raged on social media platforms after Palestine went missing from Google Maps.

Google refuted these allegations saying that the country never existed on Google Maps in the first place.

Speaking to the New York Times, a Google representative said: “There has never been a ‘Palestine’ label on Google Maps. However, the company had discovered a bug that removed the labels for ‘West Bank’ and ‘Gaza Strip.’

The report claimed that the company was working to quickly bring these labels back on the maps.

The statement also said that it was unclear if the aforementioned bug played a role in "spurring the online outrage." Umm... how could the bug play a role if Palestine never existed? Contradictory much?
