Not just celebs, anyone can have verified Twitter account

Twitter has recently announced that in an attempt to authenticate the user accounts, the social media platform has introduced an application form to identify the key individuals and organisations.

The application was rolled out on July 19 and will be available globally for a week. To get the account verified, users will have to log on to the Twitter Help Centre.

Twitter already has 1,87,000 verified accounts since the platform started in 2009.

Having a verified account gives you a little but an advantage over the user experience from the other people. The verified users on Twitter can see the notifications from the other user of the same category across the social media platform.

A similar process was initiated by Twitter a year ago, but it was withdrawn due to the numerous and 'unworthy' applications. Also, the process of verification at Twitter is done manually until today.

To get the account verified, a user should make sure that the profile details of the accounts are carefully filled. Twitter may also ask the user a reason to get his/her account verified. Along with these details, the micro-blogging verification will also need a verified government identification of the account holder.

To initiate the process, the users will have to fill an application form.

"We hope up this claims process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience," said Twitter’s VP Tina Bhatnagar.
