Google set to launch its first smartphone?
Google may soon be a name to reckon with in the mobile world with the suspected launch of its first smartphone.
Known widely for its Android Operating system (OS), Google is said to be in talks with various mobile operators to create a new mobile phone under the brand 'Google Nexus'.
The new device, which is expected to be released by the end of the year, will give tough competition to Apple, as it would make Google only the second tech giant to manufacture both mobile phone software and hardware.
Earlier this year, CEO Sundar Pichai had said although the company was working on its own smartphone technology, the Google-backed Nexus smartphone would continue to receive support.
In April, European Union (EU) had accused Google of monopolising the tech market. This new announcement by the company may just add weight to the EU's claim.
