Freedom 251 troubles continue, promises delivery of 2 lakh phones

Freedom 251 manufacturer promises delivery

The Taiwan-based company, Ringing Bells, has promised to deliver 2 lakh Freedom 251 handsets in a month’s time.

The company has said that it cannot manufacture more than 2 lakh handsets with the kind of resources they have right now. The company has already received over 70 lakh pre-orders.

The current consignment of 2 lakh phones was assembled in Haridwar. However, "If the government does not support the project, it cannot go ahead," said Mohit Goel, the founder-owner of the company, in an interview withThe Times of India.

Goel said he was being monitored by the government, police and the buyers continuously. The phone, which is a third-party product, was imported from Taiwan in 26 pieces, and now the company has assembled 2 lakh handsets, which will be sent to the registered buyers on cash-on-delivery payment mode.

"This is the maximum that the company can do at the moment," said Goel in the TOI interview,

The company is also planning to launch the cheapest 32-inch LED TV, which would be sold for ₹10,000. But, there will be no pre-booking for it.
