Cars to have radar technology in India

The company is ready to launch their new car – S 90 – that comes with radar-based safety technology.

The car, which comes with an embedded radar advantage, can sense any eventuality or hazard beforehand, through its special sensors, claim the car makers.

The technology will automatically apply brakes, even before driver’s action, by sensing dangers well in advance.

Volvo company authorities have said, it would make reaching a desired destination easier, as this car is endowed with an advanced radar technology which can guide the driver with accurate directions .

Awaiting permission from TRAI

Volvo, desirous of releasing this new car in the market, has sought the TRAI’s (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) approval for its radar technology. The company is also in talks with Government of India, in this regard.

TRAI had exercised its control over 36-38 MHz, 433-434.79 MHz, 302-351 KHz and 76-77 GHz frequencies of the radar and Volvo would require the TRAI’s permission to release its radar technology in the market.

Earlier, Volvo, which had unveiled its XC 90 version with similar technology in India, had withdrawn its cars, as TRAI had denied permission then.

Now, the company authorities are said to be in touch with Government of India for their new radar technology fitted cars and are also contemplating the release of its  earlier version of XC 90 cars in India.
