Former chief minister of Tamil Nadu O Panneerselvam has announced that he would give away a disputed well and land in his farm in Lakshmipuram to the residents.
The villagers of Lakshmipuram have staged many protests against him claiming that a large well in his farm was the main reason for the extreme water shortage.
In response to this OPS said that his coconut farm cannot be irrigated without the water from the well.
Last week, in the presence of police officers, a negotiation meeting was held with the villagers on behalf of OPS. It was then agreed that they would not take water from the well for the irrigation.
But meeting the reporters today, O Panneerselvam said that he would give away his well and the land to the villagers.
