Google unveiled an experimental conversation AI service called Bard, as it races to catch up with the wildly popular chatbot ChatGPT from the Microsoft-backed firm OpenAI.The service will be initially opened up to "trusted testers" before making it more widely available to the public in the coming weeks, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said in a blogpost.

In a viral post on the anonymous workplace app- Blind, a software engineer shared that he was recently fired by Google after joining in the last two months. Before Google he was laid off by Amazon in November and Snap in September.

Katherine Wong, who is eight months pregnant and preparing to go on maternity leave at Google, described how she dealt with the news that she is one of the company's 12,000 layoffs.

Justin Moore, who worked as an Engineering Manager at Google, shared that he had not received any prior warning about the layoffs. Moore, who has been a part of Google for more than sixteen years, shares that his account was deactivated suddenly in the middle of the night. Read full story here:

Alphabet Inc, Google's parent, is eliminating 12,000 jobs, its chief executive said in a staff memo on Friday. Sundar Pichai, Alphabet's CEO, said in the note, "I am confident about the huge opportunity in front of us thanks to the strength of our mission, the value of our products and services, and our early investments in AI."

Google chief executive Sundar Pichai met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and assured his support to making an open and connected internet that works for all. He also hailed "the rapid pace of technological change" under PM Modi's leadership.

Sundar Pichai tweeted saying that Google Search registered its highest-ever traffic in 25 years since its origin, thanks to tremendous interest generated during the nail-biting FIFA World Cup final.
