Delhi High Court dismissed National Conference leader Omar Abdullah's plea for divorce from the estranged wife. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah sought divorce from his estranged wife Payal Abdullah on grounds that he was subjected to cruelty by her.

Opposition leaders mirrored Abdullah's sentiment, with Ghulam Nabi Azad expressing discontent and recognizing the widespread dissatisfaction among the people of Jammu and Kashmir following the verdict. However, senior Congress leader Karan Singh, a scion of the former Jammu and Kashmir king Maharaja Hari Singh, took a different stance.

Congress party accused the government of withdrawing security troops from around Rahul Gandhi as the Bharat Jodo Yatra approached Qazigund in Jammu and Kashmir and sought action against those guilty for the alleged security breach.

The National Conference leader said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government understands that an elected government will try to heal the people's wounds, whereas they merely allegedly rub salt and chilli into them.

The Centre has made it possible for non-citizens to register as voters and vote in Jammu & Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah criticised the action, saying it will only assist the BJP "import bogus votes" to support the saffron party.

According to reports, the CBI indicted former J&K Bank chairman Mushtaq Ahmad Shaikh and 18 others last month for a Rs 800 crore loss to the bank as a result of loans to REI Agro issued in breach of rules, without genuine security, and on fraudulent documents.
