The Congress has sounded confident of emerging victorious in Karnataka. Senior Congress leader and former minister MB Patil told news agency that it will come to power on its own with 130-odd seats out of 224 in the southern state.

In addition to CM Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh and Assam Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Himanta Biswa Sarma, respectively, and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadvavis have been included.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma admitted that the leak of question papers for the Class 10 state board exam was a 'failure' on the part of his administration. "The matric paper leak should not have happened. It shows our failure. I accept it," he said.

The Gauhati High Court granted pre-arrest bail to nine people charged under the POCSO Act, observing that these are not cases requiring custodial interrogation.
