Ranieris sacking proves everything is not right with the world of football

“I shed a tear last night. I shed a tear for Claudio, I shed a tear for football and I shed a tear for my club,” retired English footballer Gary Lineker expressed his sorrow after Leicester City manager was sacked last night.

This was what Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had to say about Ranieri’s sacking – “There have been a few strange decisions in 2016 and 2017, namely BREXIT, Trump and Ranieri.”

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, who is an admirer of the former, posted a photo on his Instagram account and said – “CHAMPION OF ENGLAND and FIFA MANAGER of THE YEAR. Sacked. That's the new football Claudio. Keep smiling AMICO. Nobody can delete the history you wrote.”

The entire world of football has gone into a state of shock after Premier League defending champions Leicester City decided to sack their manager Claudio Ranieri on Thursday.

A manager who helped Leicester City reach unprecedented heights and win the Premier League last year probably did not deserve this. Ranieri also led Leicester City into the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League in the ongoing season.

The Frenchman also won the FIFA Manager of the Year Award. But this is what he gets in return just because the club has not performed well in the Premier League and is nearing relegation in the ongoing season.

We can only sit and wonder what exactly is wrong with the world of football. It is clear that Ranieri’s sacking has stunned the football fans and it will take time to sink in.
