Lionel Messi is an Argentine superstar and a great modern-day footballer who continues to impact with his gameplay at Barcelona. However, his future at Camp Nou remains doubtful since last season, while his current contract ends this season.

He is reportedly negotiating a new contract with the Catalan, as the club is ready to offer him a mega-contract that could possibly bind him to the club for life. However, recent reports suggest that he keeps his options open and has been linked to top clubs, especially Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

A move to PSG also makes sense, considering that it has Messi's former Barca teammate and Brazilian striker Neymar, who has recently signed a new deal with the French champion. Furthermore, the Brazilian has time and again expressed his desire to reunite with Messi, either at the French capital or Barca.

Besides PSG, City is the next club that can realistically afford Messi. However, club manager Pepe Guardiola, who had previously managed the Argentine at Barca, had said that Messi should stay at Camp Nou. Also, Guardiola would not force him to come to the Etihad Stadium just to break the heart of Barca fans.
