Is this the actual reason why Dhoni gave up on his captaincy duties?

Is this the actual reason why Dhoni gave up on his captaincy duties

The entire cricketing fraternity became emotional when MS Dhoni passed on the baton of captaincy to Virat Kohli in limited overs cricket as well few days ago. Most of us thought that it was Dhoni who decided to step down from the captaincy and focus on his game and let Kohli handle the team affairs as the latter has done a tremendous job in the longest format of the game.

But it seems that the real reason behind Dhoni’s stepping down from the captaincy in ODIs and T20s is different. A report in the Hindustan Times claimed that the BCCI selectors may have forced Dhoni to hang his captaincy boots ahead of the India vs England ODI and T20 series.

We are all aware of the fact what the former captain has done for Indian cricket. No one even can have an ounce of doubt about his abilities to lead a side. His flamboyance, his suave nature on the field made him earn the title of ‘Captain Cool.’

May be he was asked by the selectors to focus on his batting more as India will look to defend their ICC Champions Trophy crown in June 2017.

MS Dhoni has already led India to two World Cup victories and surely he is eyeing the third one in 2019, which will be played in England and Wales. But this time, the Board probably wants Dhoni to be right behind Kohli which might just help the Indian cricket team in the long run.
