There was a time India used to wait in high anticipation for the second wicket to fall so that the Little Master, Sachin Tendulkar, could walk out in the middle and stun the fans with his majestic strokes. But when Tendulkar retired, we thought that our memories are going to be savoured for a long long time as India will never have another Tendulkar in the side.

But hardly did we realise when time just flew and we have been gifted with this young bloke who has been mesmerising us with run-scoring abilities. He is none other than Virat Kohli!

On Friday, Kohli made us pray again when he was batting on 199* against Bangladesh. He made us realise today that we had no clue when our chants made the transition from ‘Sachin....Sachin’ to ‘Kohli....Kohli.’ And then came his fourth double century in Test cricket!

The run machine is on a dream run be it any format of the game especially Tests since last year. Here are some of the records that he scripted during this one-off Test match against Bangladesh in Hyderabad:

## On Thursday he became the only Indian captain to score more than 1000+ plus runs in Test cricket at home.

## Kohli has now scored the highest number of runs in one home season surpassing the previous record of 1105 runs, which was held byVirender Sehwag for almost 13 years. The list had elite names like Graham Gooch, Sunil Gavaskar and more.

## King Kohli has scored centuries against seven Test playing nations and he is yet to play against Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

## Virat Kohli as the captain of the Indian team has now scored nine Test centuries in just 36 innings.

## He has now placed second in the list of most number of Test hundreds by an Indian batting at no. 4 with Gundappa Vishwanath (12). The list is aced obviously by none other than Tendulkar (44).

## Kohli now has 43 international 100’s just 2 behind AB De Villiers and five behind Rahul Dravid in the list. The list has legends like Brian Lara, Jacques Kallis, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting and Hashim Amla. It does not look like he is going to take much time to inch closer to Tendulkar’s record of 100 international hundreds.

## Kohli’s lowest score in the last five hundred he scored was 167. The rest of the time he has gone on to score double hundreds.

## The run machine has now equalled the record of most no. of 150 plus scores by an Indian captain with Sunil Gavaskar and Mohammad Azharuddin (5 each).

## Kohli himself as 4 double tons as an Indian captain which is a record.

## Last but not the least; Kohli became the first batsman in the history of the gentlemen’s game to score four double centuries in four consecutive successful Test series.

Cricket is definitely an emotion for the Indians and Kohli currently is the heartbeat. He is only getting better with time and King Kohli will shine with his Spartan armour yet again against the mighty Australians later this month. Till then let us continue to roar the latest chant and admire your astounding achievements! Thank you Kohli for bringing our emotions back in this game again!
