The deal adds European fluid-management and commissioning capabilities as Vertiv builds out services for increasingly complex liquid-cooled data centers.
- The acquisition broadens Vertiv’s ability to support cooling infrastructure during the commissioning stage
- It expands Vertiv’s thermal services footprint in Europe as AI and high-density computing increase cooling complexity.
- Vertiv previously spent about $1 billion to acquire PurgeRite, strengthening its specialized fluid-management business.
Vertiv Holdings Co (VRT) is expanding beyond the hardware side of data center cooling. The company said Thursday it agreed to acquire King Environmental Services, a Europe-based provider of fluid-management, commissioning, and load-testing services, as artificial intelligence (AI) and high-density computing drive more complex thermal requirements.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. The deal's financial terms have not yet been disclosed.
What King Environmental Adds To Vertiv’s Cooling Business
The acquisition broadens Vertiv’s ability to support cooling infrastructure during commissioning, when systems are tested and prepared before entering full operation.
Commissioning checks whether installed cooling equipment and fluid systems perform as intended, while load testing puts those systems under simulated operating demand to verify they can handle real-world conditions.
For data centers running dense AI workloads, that testing becomes increasingly important as more heat must be removed from a smaller physical footprint.
Vertiv said in its latest quarterly filing that customer requirements are shifting toward higher-density infrastructure and increasingly complex hybrid air- and liquid-cooling architectures. The company has been investing in engineering and other capabilities to support those evolving requirements.
Builds On Vertiv’s Fluid Management Push
King Environmental adds to a fluid-management business Vertiv has already been expanding through acquisitions.
Vertiv completed its roughly $1 billion acquisition of PurgeRite in December 2025, adding mechanical flushing, purging and filtration capabilities for liquid-cooled systems. Those services help keep cooling loops free from debris, air and other contaminants that can reduce heat-transfer efficiency or affect system reliability.
Vertiv’s 2025 annual filing said AI and high-density computing are increasing the importance of services focused on uptime, efficiency and long-term system performance. The company specifically identified specialized fluid management as part of its global services portfolio.
The King Environmental acquisition extends that strategy by adding more commissioning and field-service capability around the cooling systems Vertiv already designs and supplies.
