Vinay kidnap attempt 720 page charge sheet filed

“An attempt was made to kidnap Sangolli Rayanna Brigade Media Coordinator Vinay to procure a CD related to BJP leader K S Eshwarappa and details of the conversations that State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa’s personal secretary Santosh had with a female film actor.”  This is a part of the 720 pages charge sheet submitted to the 7th ACMM court on Wednesday by the Mahalakshmi Layout police, reported Kannada Prabha.

The charge sheet details that the plan was hatched in the cellar of Yeddyurappa’s house at Dollar’s Colony. After 5 months of preparation the culprits were ready for action. However, the plan was a failure at the last minute.

The CD contained information about the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade that was set up under the leadership of Eshwarappa. Also they suspected that the private talk between Santosh and the female actor was known to Vinay. The police appealed to the court that investigation into the incident is continuing and in case any additional information is available additional charge sheet will be filed.

Santosh was introduced to the film actor when she had come to invite Yeddyurappa to a program some months ago.  They had exchanged phone numbers and were talking often and became friends. In December 2016 Santosh had booked a room at a prestigious hotel and invited her. However, in the last minute she had cancelled the meeting. Santosh suspected that Vinay was in possession of information about his private talks with the actor.  During the same time, Eshwarappa’s Sangolli Rayanna Brigade activities had started, which was a hindrance to Yeddyurappa politically.

Santosh came to know that Vinay, who was the coordinator of the Brigade, had a CD which contained the programmes of the Brigade.  Santosh decided to steal the CD and the details about the actor from Vinay.  To carry out this he contacted Rajendra Urs, who was engaged in coordinating BJP activities.  Later, through Rajendra Urs, Santosh came to know rowdy Prashanth and his associates.  From January they started planning to kidnap Vinay and get hold of the CD and the information. Finally on May 11 it was put to action. All these information came to light during the interrogation said the police.

However, the Eshwarappa CD is not available.  Also the accused number 1 did not hand over his phone. Hence the investigation is not complete the police informed the court.

It can be recalled that on May 11, 2017, miscreants had attempted to kidnap Vinay, coordinator of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, near Mahalakshmi Layout.  Malleshwara sub division ACP Anand Badiger led team worked on this case for 5 months and submitted a 720 page report that includes medical reports, FSL experts’ reports, statements by Vinay and others. Yeddyurappa’s personal secretary Santosh is Accused number one and Rajendra Urs, general secretary of Bengaluru District Yuva Morcha is Accused number two. A total of 11 names are mentioned including rowdy Prashanth, Umakanth and others.

North Division DCP Chethan Singh Rathod said the charge sheet includes all details about the findings of the investigation including the CD related to Eshwarappa and the conversation with the film actor. The investigations are in progress and additional charge sheet will be submitted later.
