Glass panel falls down hurting students at Shivarame Gowdas school

Two students were injured when glass panels from window fell down from 5th floor at a school owned by JD(S) leader L R Shivarame Gowda at Kalyan Nagar. Parents staged a protest in front of the school and only after Shivarame Gowda arrived and apologised they dispersed. The school has been shut down for 3 days for repair, reported Kannada Prabha.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at Royal Concord International School, owned by L R Shivarame Gowda, at Kalyana Nagara. At around 5 pm when students were returning home a window glass pane collapsed from 5th floor and fell on Hemanth Kumar from fourth standard and Paridhi of seventh standard. They sustained serious injuries on the head and were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital.  They are out of danger.

In Thursday angry parents gathered at the school premises and staged a dharna, alleging carelessness by the administration. Shivarame Gowda arrived at the spot and instead of pacifying them he said “I have seen enough of such protests at one time” which made the parents angrier. They condemned him for making a political speech. The police intervened and brought the situation under control.

Later Shivarame Gowda apologised to them and said such accident had not occurred in all 13 years of the school and requested 3 days’ time to repair the building. Holiday has been declared for 3 days for the school and repairs works are undertaken.
