CM seeks report on babies deaths in Kolar district hospital

After the alarming death of new borns reported from the Kolar district hospital - 33 babies reportedly died in three months - Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sought a detailed report into these deaths. At least two babies died within 24 hours at the Sri Narasimharaja District Hospital in Kolar on Tuesday.

One of the babies' relative had told Suvarna News that the baby died within three days of admitting to the hospital. When asked, they respond in a very rude manner. "We don't have enough doctors here. Duty doctors have also gone on leave. Get a doctor to treat your baby," is how they react, reports Suvarna News quoting the relative of the baby.

Meanwhile, the doctors here had claimed that the babies' deaths were not due to the negligence of inadequate facilities in the hospital. "One baby died due to congenital brain abnormality and the other baby died due to low weight and respiratory distress," Dr Shivakumar had told Suvarna News.
