The possibility of former union minister CM Ibrahim being elected for MLC’s post vacated by the demise of BJP’s Vimala Gowda is becoming stronger. Ibrahim has filed his nomination for the post as Congress candidate. Till the last day of submitting nomination, which was Monday, no other candidate had submitted nominations. If his nomination is found in order, Ibrahim will have a smooth entry into the Upper House.

August 24 is the last day to withdraw nominations. Since no other candidates have filed nomination and if Ibrahim does not withdraw his nomination, he will be declared elected MLC, unanimously. Ibrahim submitted his nomination papers in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to legislative secretary S Murthy. Former minister Kimmane Ratnakar was the proposer.
Ibrahim has declared an asset of Rs 65 crores - he has Rs 10 lakh in cash and Rs 8 lakh with his wife PP Shaheela. He has invested Rs 10 crore in deposits, investments and shares and debentures. His wife’s assets are Rs 8 crore. Ibrahim has gold worth Rs 3 lakh and his wife has jewellry worth Rs 19 lakh.
Speaking to mediapersons after filing the nomination, Ibrahim said he is not an aspirant for the minister’s post. MLC post itself is great, reports Kannada Prabha quoting Ibrahim.
