Industries appeal to NGT to cancel the notice issued by KSPCB to close down works. Namma Bengaluru Foundation has appealed not to entertain the industries appeal. Demand a joint investigation committee to look into effluent from factories.
The Bellandur industries have submitted an appeal to National Green Tribunal (NGT) to cancel the notice issued by Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) instructing them to close down their works, which are pouring out effluents into the Bellandur lake, causing it to become toxic and catching fire.

The appeal came for scrutiny before the court on Monday and the Namma Bengaluru Foundation, which is fighting to save the lakes in the City, has taken strong objection to the appeal. It has once again submitted the order copies issued by NGT on April 19 and May 18 to the court. The court has posted the hearing, after scrutiny to June 8. The court has also directe the KSPCB and other related organisations to submit objections if any.
Appeal for joint investigation committee
Meanwhile the industries that have gone on appeal namely Maruti Dealers, workshop and showroom managers have said that their companies are not pouring out effluents into Bellandur lake, hence they should be exempted from the close down notice. They also requested for a joint investigation committee to be set up to look into the effluents. However, the court ruled that there was no need to setting up a joint investigation committee and instructed to submit appropriate application in future.
