An App to track students of nursing, paramedical and medical courses

Copying and impersonation had become a common occurrence at nursing and paramedical examinations. To clear that and track every student Rajiv Gandhi Health Sciences University has developed an App to track every student, reported Kannada Prabha.

The app will have complete details of the student starting from his attendance to impersonation.  If the invigilator suspects a student is not genuine all that he has to do is click the student’s photo. Next minute his all details are displayed on the screen. If the student is an impersonator then no data will be available.  Immediately action can be taken.

Several students are not punctual to classes at nursing and paramedical courses.  In case of such students, impersonation was common. But with the new app in place it will be difficult to cheat.

The idea was born when the Kalburgi High Court bench instructed the State Government to control and stop irregularities in nursing colleges.  In response RGUHS developed the app. It was implemented at the 2017-18 admission process.  All data of all students has been uploaded on to the app.  An official at the university said it is essential for the student to have the same photo at all applications. In case he or she changes the photo the app will not recognise it.

There are over 40,000 students studying in nursing and paramedical courses. Ad hoc VC  Dr M K Ramesh said bio metric instruments will be set up for correct identification of all students.
