West Bengal: Tough road ahead for TMC leader Anubrata Mandal as BJP's strength increases in Birbhum
In various political meetings of the Trinamool, Anubrata Mandal has questioned many leaders and recently too he questioned the booth president, why the vote count of the Trinamool party was decreasing. This question created a fuss across the state.
Anubrata Mandal is a very prominent figure of the Trinamool party. In various political meetings of the Trinamool, he used to hold the microphone in his own way and ask several questions to the political leaders. The party leaders and workers of Birbhum would answer his question only by nodding their heads.
However, after the Lok Sabha vote, some changes were seen in the people of Birbhum. At a recent party meeting, Anubrata was embarrassed when he asked the booth president why the votes for the Trinamool party were decreasing?
The booth President gave a stern answer to his question.
This incident took place on September 2. In a meeting with party leaders and workers, Anubrata was analyzing the reasons for the decrease of Trinamool votes. The booths were taking the initiative to develop the area. Anubrata was reprimanding the booth president of the booths where the number of votes for the Trinamool party has decreased.
Suddenly, a booth president of Trinamool countered Anubrata Mandal on the question of development in the full staff meeting. He said, “When the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was in power, people could travel by bicycle on the road. The people of the village are jokingly asking whether they will cultivate fish in the streets or not”
Anubrata got annoyed after hearing such statements. He furiously said, “So much development has been done but still people’s stomach is not filled.”
Counteracting this statement, the booth president said, “We have not enough to fill our stomach. We want roads, drinking water, electricity. None of that happened.”
Everyone in the party meeting was surprised to see the quarrel between the booth president and Anubrata Mandal. Anubrata felt embarrassed at the meeting. He ordered to remove Ganesh Roy from the post of booth president. Ganesh Roy and his followers left the meeting. Later, however, Ganesh was not expelled from the post of booth president.
After this incident, rumors started circulating in the district Trinamool party that Anubrata Mandal has lost his respect among people.
BJP is holding meetings and processions in different places of the district without even informing Anubrata. BJP leaders are also threatening Anubrata in a public meeting. Trinamool has lost a lot of votes in the last Lok Sabha election. BJP is increasing its strength in Mayureshwar, Rampur, Surrey, Rampurhat, Sainthia areas.
On the other hand, party leader Mamata Banerjee has relieved Anubrat Mandal from the responsibility of three assembly seats in Burdwan. Anubrata Mandal is gradually losing his position in the party.
Moreover, Aubrata is no longer heard to make explosive remarks in any of the meetings.
